Our Story
Everyday Activism Network was born out of our collective experience of the year 2020. Everyday people were inspired by current events to seek out ways to directly support their neighbors and communities. People joined in solidarity to care for the most vulnerable among us, defend democracy, address climate change, and tackle the root causes, systems, and structures of racism, inequality, and oppression. Many of us were moved by current events to reflect on our own role in perpetuating these systems and how to change them. Sometimes, it was hard to know where to start. It still is.
That’s where we come in.
Everyday Activism Network supports you to sharpen your activism skills and increase your impact when you do take action. Our goal is to help you gain confidence, focus your time and energy, maintain momentum, and maximize your efforts.
A lot of platforms break down and unpack issues and events to help us understand why we should care. We do some of that too, but Everyday Activism Network offers something more. We help you take action on the issues you care about.
We guide you to understand:
Why a recommended call to action is useful.
What impact it will have.
How to take action with confidence.
By doing the research and planning for you, Everyday Activism Network provides opportunities for you to easily engage on the issues you care about, making better use of your time, talent, and resources.
Our guides are designed to support you to:
Become familiar with more progressive solutions.
Identify organizations to support.
Increase your civic engagement.
Deepen and sustain your everyday activism over time.
Our recommendations are based on years of experience and rely on a network of issue experts and advisors to identify and vet the actions and organizations we recommend. Collectively, we have spent our careers working on these issues and understand the complex connections between advocacy, civic engagement, direct action, organizing, movement building, politics, direct services, and systems change. We know what levers to pull to effect change. We are familiar with the organizations doing the best work to create a more just and equitable world, and know how to identify those who aren’t. Based on that knowledge, we make recommendations that have the highest probability of positive impact.
This work would not be possible without subscribers. Your subscription is your donation to us. It allows us to continue adding new content on current events, expand and grow the platform, remain independent, and guarantee that content remains free for everyone. We cannot accept tax deductible donations because we are not a 501(c)(3). As the platform grows, we will explore different models and entity structures to best meet the needs of the network and to ethically steward your donations in order to fulfill our mission.
